Introduced at Baselworld 2016, the Rolex Daytona 116508 0013 marked the first time the collection was paired with a vivid green dial in solid 18ct yellow gold. Retaining all the hallmarks that made the Daytona one of the world’s most celebrated chronographs, including its trio of sub dials, engraved tachymeter bezel, and signature screw down pushers, this reference brought a far bolder personality to the line up.

Interestingly, the watch was not an instant success. Early attention remained firmly fixed on the stainless steel ceramic Daytona models, leaving the green dial 116508 somewhat overlooked. That all changed following John Mayer’s now famous appearance on Talking Watches, where he highlighted the reference as a future collector piece. Almost overnight, demand surged, and the watch quickly became known throughout the industry as the “John Mayer Daytona”.

Today, the 116508 0013 stands as one of the defining modern Daytona references. The combination of yellow gold and green gives the watch an unmistakable presence, yet it still feels refined enough for everyday wear. It is a piece that appeals to collectors who want something with genuine significance behind it, not just visually, but culturally within modern watch collecting too. Following its discontinuation in 2023, the “John Mayer” Daytona has firmly secured its place as one of the most sought after contemporary Rolex models.

Our 2023, reference 116508, is presented in excellent condition, with light signs of wear and remains unpolished.
