The Rolex Day Date 40 228238-0002 pairs a silver dial with the collection’s traditional 18ct yellow gold construction. The cooler dial breaks up the full gold case, fluted bezel and President bracelet, giving each element of the watch greater definition.
The day is written in full at 12 o’clock, paired with the date beneath the Cyclops lens at three, the combination Rolex pioneered with the original Day Date in 1956. Inside, calibre 3255 provides approximately 70 hours of power reserve.
The silver dial gives this 228238 a different presence from the configurations most associated with a yellow gold Day Date. It retains everything that defines a full gold President, but with enough contrast to let the case, bracelet and dial stand apart.
