The Rolex Explorer II 226570 is one of the most purposeful watches in the modern Rolex catalogue. Originally introduced in 1971 for cave explorers and professionals working in extreme environments, the Explorer II was built around clarity, durability and the ability to distinguish day from night using its fixed 24-hour bezel.

Introduced in 2021, the year the Explorer II turned 50, the 226570 brought the model into Rolex’s current movement generation. Rolex made subtle updates to the case and bracelet while keeping the familiar 42mm profile, with a refined dial and cleaner hand finish sharpening the watch without changing its essential character.

The appeal of the Explorer II is that it does not try to be decorative. The fixed steel bezel, bold 24-hour hand and highly legible dial give it a more instrument-led feel than many other Rolex sports models. It is built for function first, which is exactly why it has such a distinct place within the Professional range.

Inside sits Rolex’s calibre 3285, the same current-generation movement used in the GMT-Master II line. With a 70-hour power reserve and independently adjustable local hour hand, it gives the Explorer II proper travel functionality while keeping the tougher, more understated identity that defines the model.

Our 2025 226570 is presented in excellent condition, with light signs of wear and remains unpolished. The watch is offered as a full set, complete with 2025 dated warranty card, booklets, both tags, and original Rolex box.
