Nautilus, 3800/1A, Stainless Steel, Undated Papers

The Patek Philippe Nautilus 3800/1A brought a more compact interpretation of Gérald Genta’s original Nautilus design, following the introduction of the 3700 in 1976. Launched in 1981, the reference retained the distinctive porthole-inspired case and integrated bracelet, but reduced the proportions to approximately 37.5mm. It also introduced a central seconds hand and date display to the smaller Nautilus format, giving the watch a more conventional timekeeping layout.

Unlike the original 3700, which used an ultra-thin movement without a seconds hand, the 3800 was fitted with a self-winding movement incorporating central seconds. Its horizontally embossed dial and alternating brushed and polished surfaces preserve the character of the early Nautilus, while the smaller case gives this generation its own distinct proportions.

Presented in very good condition, this 3800/1A has only light signs of wear and previous polishing. Offered as a complete set with its original Patek Philippe box, book pack and period correct open papers, as expected of a vintage example. It further benefits from a recent Patek Philippe service completed in 2026, therefore covered by a two year Patek Philippe service warranty.
