Introduced in 2023, the Patek Philippe Calatrava Travel Time 5224R-001 takes an unusual approach to displaying two time zones. Unlike conventional 12-hour watches, its hands complete one revolution every 24 hours, allowing both local and home time to be read without separate day and night indicators. A solid hand displays local time, while a skeletonised hand tracks home time.
The reference also departs from Patek Philippe's traditional Travel Time design by replacing the usual correction pushers with a patented crown-operated mechanism. This allows local time to be adjusted in one-hour increments without interrupting the clean lines of the rose gold case. A platinum micro-rotor helps keep the automatic movement slim despite the additional complication.
