The green ombré dial of the Rolex Day-Date 40 ref. 228238-0069 revisits a design Rolex first explored in the 1980s and reintroduced in 2019. Its graduated finish transitions from rich green at the centre to almost black at the perimeter, achieved through the controlled application of black lacquer. This distinctive technique creates a striking contrast with the 18ct yellow gold case and applied hour markers.
The Day-Date 40 is powered by Rolex's calibre 3255, offering an approximately 70-hour power reserve and instantaneous day and date changes. Its President bracelet retains the distinctive semicircular links introduced alongside the original Day-Date in 1956.
This 2026 example is presented in unworn condition, offered as a complete set with a 2026 dated warranty card, booklets, tags, and original Rolex box.
