The Rolex GMT-Master II 126720VTNR is one of the most unusual modern Rolex releases in recent memory. At first glance, the design feels familiar: Oystersteel case, two-tone Cerachrom bezel, and the unmistakable form of the GMT-Master II. Look closer, and the difference becomes clear. The crown and date window have moved to the left side of the case, creating a layout unlike any previous production GMT-Master II.

That change gives the watch its identity. More than a new bezel colour, the 126720VTNR reworks one of Rolex’s most recognisable sports watches without losing the practicality that made the GMT-Master II famous. The black and green bezel, quickly nicknamed “Sprite” by collectors, brings a fresh visual language to the model, while the 40mm Oystersteel case keeps the watch grounded, robust and easy to wear.

Inside sits Rolex’s calibre 3285, the same traveller-focused movement used across the modern GMT-Master II line. Its independently adjustable hour hand makes changing time zones simple, while the 24-hour bezel allows a second time zone to be tracked at a glance. It is a genuinely useful complication, not just a design signature.

The appeal of the Sprite lies in how confidently Rolex altered the familiar. It feels instantly recognisable, yet different enough to stand apart from the Pepsi, Batman and other modern GMT references.
