The Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date 4010U/000G-H070 demonstrates how restraint can make a complication feel even more impressive. Rather than competing for attention, the retrograde date and moon phase are arranged within a dial that remains clean, balanced and immediately legible.

The silver-toned dial, finished with a subtle sunburst satin effect, provides the perfect backdrop for the retrograde date display. As each month draws to a close, the date hand completes its arc before instantly returning to the first, adding a moment of mechanical theatre to an otherwise understated design. At six o'clock, the moon phase completes the display without disturbing the symmetry of the dial. A green alligator leather strap introduces a contemporary contrast to the classical white gold case.
